Transportation

Pennsylvania has a good connecting highway structure and we chose something that makes us accessible to New York City, New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania within a day trip by truck.
~ Rod Reader, Downes and Reader Hardwoods

Rail Service

The Pennsylvania Northeast Regional Railroad Authority owns 95 miles of active rail lines in Lackawanna, Wayne, Monroe and Northampton Counties in northeastern Pennsylvania. Our designated regional rail operator, the Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad Co., Inc. (DLRR) provides common carrier rail freight service to more than 25 active rail industries that ship or receive over 7000 carloads per year.

The greatest advantage of our 95 mile rail system is the ability of any of our rail-using industries to have two Class I rail connections, Norfolk Southern Railroad and Canadian Pacific Railway. Our rail users have a competitive advantage in obtaining rates, since the DLRR directly interchanges with both of these Class I rail carriers.

If you have any questions about locating your industry along our regional rail lines, or if your company has any need for rail shipping or receiving, you may contact Larry C. Malski, Esquire, Chief Operating Officer, Pennsylvania Northeast Regional Railroad Authority, 280 Cliff Street, Scranton, Pennsylvania 18503. Mr. Malski can be reached by telephone (570-963-6676), Fax (570-963-6718), or e-mail.
