PMEDC members gathered at the Barley Creek Taproom in Tannersville to hear from Shelby Linton-Keddie, Senior Director of Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs for PPL Electric Utilities. She was joined by other PPL representatives Alana Roberts, Regional Affairs Director; Jason Hunt, Manager, Business & Economic Development and Ashley Lorah, Key Accounts Manager.
Ms. Linton-Keddie outlined the growing resource adequacy challenge that has been identified by PJM: a potential 40GW gap between supply and demand by 2030. She also reviewed the growing load demand in PPL territory, driven in part by the proposed data center development taking place in the region.
“PPL Electric Utilities proposes a moderate, state-focused approach that will provide PA with the flexibility to work alongside the market to address energy shortfall and protect customers from unreasonable price volatility and reliability concerns,” stated Linton-Keddie.
A key component is the proposed Legislation House Bill 1272/Senate Bill 897: Generation Investment Flexibility for Electric Distribution Companies.
