Amy Leiser from the Monroe County Historical Association joins the podcast to discuss the organization’s major expansion project at the historic Stroud Mansion in Stroudsburg. The $7.75 million Heritage Center addition will provide much-needed space for the association’s growing collection, research library, and community programming. Built alongside the 1795 Stroud Mansion, the modern addition follows national preservation standards while providing climate control, accessibility features including an elevator, and expanded exhibit space. The project also includes a complete restoration of the original mansion exterior and interior upgrades. Leiser explains the fundraising campaign led by Bill Kramer, the design philosophy behind the contemporary addition, and upcoming events including their annual wine pairing fundraiser at Skytop on September 4th. The expansion will allow all 14 rooms of the mansion to be used for displays, including a dedicated Lenape Hoking room developed in partnership with local tribes.
