The Old County Jail and Former Assessor’s Office at 34 and 38 North 7th Street, respectively, are county-owned buildings fronting Courthouse Square in downtown Stroudsburg.
They lie in the Borough’s C-2 Commercial zoning district, which allows a variety of residential, commercial, and recreational/cultural, and public/public service uses. The buildings are also included in the Borough’s Historic Preservation District, which requires a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Borough for any exterior renovations or alterations. On behalf of the Monroe County Commissioners, the Monroe County Planning Office is seeking public suggestions for the future use of these buildings.
